Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN is the Principal of Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN & CO. He obtained his LL.B at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995. Thereafter, he joined Gani Fawehinmi Chambers from 1995- 2000. In 2000, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa and Company was birthed. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN was elevated to the prestigious Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2019.
Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN is a foremost Human Rights Activist and litigation expert with interests in Public Interest Litigation, Progressive Advocacy, Constitutional Law cases, civil rights advocacy and above all, doing the work of God.
He has received recognition from various bodies which include: OAU Junior Chambers Award for Human Rights and Child Development, 1998; Senior Advocate of the Masses by the National Association of Nigerian Students, 2015; Human Rights Defender from the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Lagos State Chapter, 2016; Defender of Truth and Justice, Anglican Church, Ode-Etikan, 2017; Award for Excellence by Law Students Association of Nigeria, Elizade University.
Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN is affiliated to a number of organisations which include: Nigerian Bar Association, Justice Sector Reform Programme Commission of African Bar Association; Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Civil Liberties Organisation, to mention a few.
He has worked on a number of Landmark Cases which include:
defence of a murder charge against Professor J. G. Chinwa of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and the case to re-instate him into the University against unlawful dismissal;
he was part of the Ogoni Civil Disturbances Tribunal that tried Ken SaroWiwa, LedumMitee and other Ogoni activists in Port Harcourt;
prosecution of the Landmark Supreme Court case of Fawehinmi v. Abacha on the status and enforcement of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights;
pioneer of the legal struggles against the collection of toll fees on roads and bridges, leading to the Landmark Judgment of the Federal High Court in March 2014, which annulled the Toll collection, in March 2016;
he secured Judgement from the Federal High Court, Lagos which annulled the restriction of human and vehicular movements on the last Saturdays of every month on account of environmental sanitation;
he prosecuted the case against immunity of sitting governors from criminal investigations, leading to the landmark Supreme Court decision, amongst others.
He is currently involved in various cases on land disputes, Chieftaincy Matters, Maritime, Constitutional Law, Torts, Company Law and Election petitions, etc.
